“I feel between two places”

Daniela arrived in 2018 with her husband Camilo; in Camilo’s plans, Canada had always been seen as a country one had to go to live in.
So they decided to quit their jobs, pool their savings, board the plane and begin their journey. Upon arriving, they encountered the barriers of work and Canadian experience, because although both have established professions, for Canada they were not enough.

Daniela made the decision to change her professional field and start a career as a Hospitality Manager. “At first it wasn’t easy, but with patience one can move forward,” says Daniela when she tells how her adaptation process here has been slower than she imagined.
Although they arrived here with the necessary resources to buy their apartment and have a comfortable life, that which money cannot buy began to seep into their life like a drop of water whose tinkling does not cease. Family and customs began to create nostalgia for what was lived, the culture of the host place became stronger in the echo of silence and their hearts have been divided, being in two places.
Daniela and Camilo look with nostalgia at what was left behind and dream of being able to return one day, when the country offers a more stable economy and they can share those family barbecues that have been replaced by a phone call.
