Mao Narvaez
“I am, ME”
Mao saw before him two paths: staying and saying goodbye to his family nucleus, or embarking on the adventure with them. “Canada was not in my plans,” says Mao, but my family decided it was time to leave. To leave everything, to get to know and start over.
Facing that journey made him understand that in life social status is a weight that one does not have to carry, and that he is he, regardless of the jobs he has to do.
“You are an engineer wherever you go, because knowledge lives with you,” a Canadian told Mao, and that has helped him face the grief over status.
Another of the barriers that Mao has had to face is the language barrier, because he not only faces not knowing the language, but also the tongue that is in charge of understanding the world around him.
Faced with his migratory process, he decided to change “I’m fine” for being born again and understanding that everything he faces is a new adventure that will take him to places that will give him new knowledge.
